I basically just want to replace my MAYA44 soundcard that stopped working and thought that this mixer has the fuction of an audio interface (probably less sound quality) and it also has the function of connecting my Guitar and Mic.Īt the moment, Im recording my software synths in Cubase and Reason with a Midi keyboard, and because the Maya soundcard is busted, Im running my DAWs outputs, via the Mixtrack Pro soundcard which is connected to the active monitors. I have a Mixtrack pro for Traktor so wouldn't be using this mixer for that purpose.

At this price range I think sound quailty would be similar for the 2 units and not great, but hopefully better than my PC standered onboard sound. I would also be running Traktor via the Interface or Mixer, to the monitor speakers instead of using my controllers soundcard. The mic is more to record sounds (and tweak them) and not really to record vocals at all and I wouldn't ever need to record more than 1 input/instrument at a time. I basically want it to get better sound quality to my active Monitor speakers (Alesis M1 520) when running Cubase or Reason and to connect an electric guitar and mic to record into Cubase. Both units have similar functions but I need to know what is the difference between a USB mixer and a USB Audio Interface. So now Im in the market for either an entry level external Audio Interface (Alesis i02 OR SIMILAR) or an entry level mixer with built-in sound card (Behringer XENYX Q502).both USB powered. Not sure if it could be repaired as Ive cleaned the contacts with no success. I've taken it out and tried it in a different PC but I need to wiggle it in the slot before it gets power and then it just switches off randomly. It's been giving problems even before the instal but I think its properly busted now.

I included them to give a full range of options though.Hi guys, Ive reinstalled Windows-7 (64bit) on my PC and suddenly my internal Maya soundcard (PCI) doesn't work anymore. Unless you’re on a serious budget, I would probably try to avoid these first two (just get a USB mic instead).
Best Mixers For Solo Or 2-Person Podcasts

This will allow you to plug in more than one pair of headphones (most mixers only have one or two dedicated headphone ports). You will also want to strongly consider getting a multi-port headphone amp. USB audio interfaces are also popular ways to record on your computer (or connect to a mixer) but you usually won’t have the same control over EQ, levels, gain, etc. I’m only going to include mixers that include a USB connection so you don’t have to worry about how to connect them to your desktop computer or needing additional equipment to get your recordings onto your podcasting laptop. Some people might only ever have guests through Skype or phone calls, but you never know. Because of that, I would actually look for a mixer that has more inputs than you think you’ll need.įor example, if you’re doing a 2-host podcast, you should consider mixers from the multi-person podcast section. Even if you’re doing a solo podcast, if you ever want to have a guest join you live, you’ll need a spare input and XLR mic for them. One thing to keep in mind when deciding on an audio mixer is that you will need an XLR input for each person in the room or studio. Because the best mixer for podcasting will vary depending on your needs, how many people are involved, your experience with audio equipment, and much more, I’ve broken up the recommendations into mixers that work well for single-person and 2-person podcasts, and recommendations for podcasts with 3 or 4 (or more) hosts.
